BEAUTY BOX REVIEW
Birchbox | December 2017
When Birchbox founders Katia and Hayley first met, they had wildly different approaches to beauty. Hayley was a self-proclaimed novice, while Katia was a connoisseur. But they agreed on one thing: Shopping for products was frustrating, inefficient, and confusing. How were customers supposed to navigate the vast range of options? And in the growing online market, how could they try products without buying them all (and going bankrupt in the process)?
We shipped our first Birchboxes in September 2010, and soon realized that men needed a better way to shop too. BirchboxMan launched in April 2012 to bring guys tailored shipments of grooming and lifestyle products. Millions of boxes and product matches later, our mission remains the same: to help customers find products they love. We keep that top of mind every single day.
NUFACE | Prep-In-Glow
First Product in this month’s Birchbox I got 2 NUFACE Prep-In-Glow Towelette samples. Inside you’ll find a rather large square cloth soaked in ingredients. One side of the cloth is smooth and gentle while the other side has small bumps all over to use for exfoliation.
The dual-sided Prep-N-Glow™ Cloths feature soft cotton lace to remove makeup, dirt, oil, and impurities as micro-dots provide gentle exfoliation. Enriched with hydrating hyaluronic acid and skin-protecting antioxidants and minerals, the cloths deliver antiaging properties and create beautifully refreshed and radiant-looking skin.
I gave this a try the other night to take my makeup off with the exfoliating side and then calm my skin with the other side. I have to say the dots on the exfoliating side were rougher than what I initially thought they would be but not too rough! The smooth side felt cool and soothing to my skin. This cloth removed all my makeup along with my mascara which is always a tricky product to take off.
MARCELLE | Ultimate Volume Nano Mascara
The second treat found in this month’s box was a sample size of Marcelle’s Ultimate Volume Nano Mascara. Rather small but I wouldn’t expect anything less for a sample. This mascara is a lot thicker than others I have tried. The product really attaches itself to your lash and turned kind of globby if I didn’t apply it slowly.
AVEDA | Thickening Tonic
Fourth product arriving in this month’s beauty box is from AVEDA, Thickening Tonic. I suffer from thin, brittle hair so I have been taking extra steps to include more moisturizing products to my hair routine as well as those that can help to have volume and thickness to my hair. This sounds perfect!
Love Of Color | Liquid Shimmer Shadow
Now this little bottle of joy is also included in this month’s box and I am obsessed. It’s from Love of Color and it’s a liquid shimmer shadow. The subtle shine you get from just one swipe of this product on your lids and you will be the star of the room.
WHISH | Botanical Primer
I used to not be that huge of a fan for Primers as I didn’t realize how much they affected the outcome of my foundation and eyeshadow. I got from WHISH their Botanical Primer (trial size of course). I haven’t had too much play in the land of face primers so I don’t have much to compare to. It goes on smooth and dries quick, doesn’t leave my skin feeling dry or chalky.
